Getting around Whitton
Whitton is a residential area with its own High Street, a station on the Hounslow loop and plenty of family homes on quiet roads. For most local trips, like a run to the shops, a doctor's appointment or a visit to family in Twickenham, a car booked with us is quicker than waiting for a bus along Nelson Road or Hospital Bridge Road. Typical drive times from Whitton High Street are about 5 to 10 minutes to central Twickenham and 10 to 15 minutes to Richmond, depending on traffic on the A316.
Living next to the stadium
Twickenham Stadium sits on Whitton's southern edge, on Whitton Road. On match days and concert days, tens of thousands of people come into the area and some roads close. If you live in Whitton and need to get out on an event day, for example to the airport, book in advance and tell us. We will plan the pickup around the road closures and may suggest a meeting point a short walk away if your road is shut.
Visitors staying with friends in Whitton for a match can also book us to get from the station or the airport to their host's door the day before.
Heathrow from Whitton
Whitton is one of the closest parts of our area to Heathrow. The drive is usually 15 to 25 minutes, going out through Hounslow and along the A30 or through Hatton Cross, depending on your terminal. Our Heathrow taxi page explains terminal routes and flight tracking in more detail. For longer trips, we also run to Gatwick.
Green spaces nearby
Crane Park, running along the River Crane on the south-west side of Whitton, is a favourite with dog walkers. It is known for the old Shot Tower and its nature reserve. If you want to go further for a walk, Bushy Park and Richmond Park are both a short drive away. Dog owners can book our pet friendly taxi for trips with their dog.
School runs in Whitton
Whitton has several primary and secondary schools, and the morning traffic around them can be slow. Parents who need regular help use our school run taxi, with child seats available on request.
Neighbouring areas
Whitton borders Hounslow to the north and Feltham to the west, and it is a short drive from Isleworth. See all the places we cover on our areas we cover page.
Whitton High Street and local errands
Whitton's High Street has a mix of independent shops, cafes and takeaways, plus everyday essentials like the post office and pharmacies. For a big weekly shop, or if you cannot carry heavy bags, a car there and back is quick and inexpensive for such a short hop. We also take Whitton residents to supermarkets in Twickenham and Hounslow.
Getting to work and back
Plenty of Whitton residents commute to jobs at Heathrow, in Hounslow or around Twickenham. For early or late shifts, when buses are less frequent, a booked car is a reliable way to get in and out. Tell us your regular times and we can plan a repeat booking. We also get calls from people who have missed the last train home to Whitton station from Waterloo, so save our number for those nights. Fares for local journeys are agreed before you set off, whether you pay by card or cash.
If you are travelling from Whitton to a station further afield, such as Paddington for a train west, give us your train time and we will suggest a pickup time with some room for traffic. For families heading on holiday, a 6 seater taxi keeps everyone and their luggage together.
