Teddington's town centre and river
Teddington has two main shopping streets: the High Street, which runs down to the river, and Broad Street, near the station. Teddington Lock, at the bottom of Ferry Road, is where the Thames stops being tidal, and the footbridge there is a popular walking route across to Ham. Teddington station is on the Kingston loop line, with trains to Waterloo.
For trips around Teddington, a car saves the walk when you have shopping, when it is raining, or when you need to be somewhere on time. Typical drive times from Teddington High Street are about 8 to 12 minutes to central Twickenham and 10 to 15 minutes to Kingston town centre, depending on traffic.
Bushy Park
Bushy Park, one of London's royal parks, is right on Teddington's doorstep, with its deer and the long Chestnut Avenue. Many visitors come for the day, and plenty of locals walk their dogs there. If you need a lift to or from one of the park gates, tell us which gate and we will meet you there. Dog owners can use our pet friendly taxi.

See our Gatwick taxi page for more on that route.

Evenings out in Teddington

Walking the Thames path
The Thames path runs past Teddington Lock in both directions, towards Kingston or Richmond. If you want to walk one way and ride back, call us from wherever you finish and we will come and collect you.
Getting to and from Teddington station
Teddington station is on the loop line into Waterloo via Kingston or Twickenham, and it is a handy stop for commuters. When trains are disrupted, or when you are carrying heavy bags, a taxi from the station home is often the easiest option. We can also pick you up at the station after a late train, if you tell us which service you are on and roughly when it arrives. For longer trips, many Teddington customers book us to Gatwick, because the drive is often simpler than the rail journey via Clapham Junction.
Travelling towards Kingston
Kingston upon Thames is just across the river from Teddington, and many residents head there for shopping, the hospital or the station. A short taxi over Kingston Bridge is often easier than the bus with bags. If you have an appointment at Kingston Hospital, tell us when you book and we can plan a pickup time with room to spare, and arrange your return once you know when you will finish. For other journeys, see our areas we cover page for nearby places such as Hampton Hill.
