Two big stations, one drop-off
King's Cross is the London terminus for fast trains up the East Coast Main Line to places like York, Newcastle, Leeds and Edinburgh. St Pancras International, across Pancras Road, handles Eurostar services to mainland Europe as well as some trains to the Midlands and Kent. Tell us which station and which service you are catching, and the driver will drop you at the most convenient entrance.
From Twickenham the train journey means a trip into Waterloo and then the Underground across town. With suitcases, that is the part people dread: busy escalators, crowded Northern line platforms and no seats in the rush hour. A car avoids all of that.
How we usually drive there
Our drivers normally head up the A316 to Chiswick, along the A4 and over the Hammersmith flyover, then take the A40 Westway and Marylebone Road across the top of central London to Euston Road. It is a well-used route that skirts the busiest streets. Journey times run from about 50 minutes early in the morning to 75 minutes or more in heavy traffic. Please treat these as typical estimates, not promises.
| Your train | Station | Suggested arrival |
|---|---|---|
| LNER, Lumo or Grand Central north | King's Cross | 20 to 30 min before departure |
| Eurostar to Paris, Brussels or Amsterdam | St Pancras International | Check Eurostar's current advice, as check-in closes well before departure |
| Thameslink or Great Northern | King's Cross or St Pancras | 15 to 20 min before departure |
Catching the Eurostar
Eurostar check-in and security close some time before the train leaves, so you need to arrive earlier than for a normal train. Check the latest guidance on your ticket. We will plan your pickup time with that in mind and allow for traffic on the Marylebone Road.
Collections from King's Cross and St Pancras
Coming back from Scotland or the Continent? Give us your train details and we will arrange the pickup. If your train is delayed, call us and we will move the pickup time. The fare is fixed when you book, so a delay does not change the price.
The right car for the trip
Rail travellers usually carry less than airport passengers, so a saloon suits most bookings. Families heading north for a holiday may want an estate or our 6 seater taxi. Travelling with a dog? Eurostar has its own rules for pets, but we are happy to take you and your dog to the station in our pet friendly taxi.
Which entrance?
King's Cross has its main concourse on the western side, facing the square, and St Pancras has entrances on Pancras Road and Euston Road. Traffic around the stations is busy and stopping is limited in places, so your driver will use the most practical drop-off point for your station. If you need help with bags, tell us when you book.
Harry Potter fans and day trips
King's Cross is also a destination in its own right. Families often visit for the famous Platform 9 and three-quarters photo spot, the shops and restaurants around Granary Square, and the canal walk behind the station. We can drop you off for the day and bring you home in the evening.
Coming home late
Evening trains from the north often arrive after 10pm. The Underground is still running, but with a long journey behind you and a change at Waterloo ahead, a waiting car makes the last part of the trip much easier.
Leaving from Twickenham, Whitton or Teddington
Most King's Cross pickups we do start in TW1 and TW2, but plenty begin in the streets around Whitton and Teddington. The time to King's Cross changes quite a lot depending on where you start and the time of day. From Teddington, allow a little longer, because the first part of the journey runs through Twickenham before joining the main road east. Tell us your full address and train time when you book and we will suggest a pickup time that leaves you comfortable at the station, not rushing across the concourse with ten minutes to spare.
More stations and connections
Euston is only a few minutes along Euston Road if your train goes up the West Coast instead. We also run to Paddington for trains west. If you are flying rather than taking the train, see Stansted and Luton. We collect from Richmond and Whitton for this route too.
