Hampton village and the river
Old Hampton sits on the Thames, with St Mary's Church above the river and Garrick's Temple to Shakespeare on the bank. The temple was built for the actor David Garrick in the 18th century and is open to visitors at certain times. Across the water is Hurst Park, and the small Hampton Ferry runs over to Molesey in season. Thames Street and the roads around it are narrow, so our drivers know where it is easiest to stop.
Hampton Court Palace
Hampton Court Palace, Henry VIII's famous Tudor palace, sits at the far end of Bushy Park. Visitors come all year round, and the big summer events there, including the RHS garden festival, bring heavy traffic. If you are visiting the palace or going to an event, book a pickup time in advance and we will agree a meeting point that avoids the busiest roads.
Hampton Pool and Bushy Park
Hampton Pool, an open-air heated pool on the edge of Bushy Park, is popular with local families, even in winter. Bushy Park itself stretches from Hampton to Teddington. We can drop you at a park gate or at the pool and collect you later. If you are bringing your dog, see our pet friendly taxi.
Heathrow and Gatwick from Hampton
Hampton is well placed for Heathrow, usually 20 to 30 minutes away via Hanworth and the A312, or the A316 and M3 for some terminals. Gatwick is typically 45 to 60 minutes via the M3 and M25. These are typical times and change with traffic. See our Heathrow taxi and Gatwick taxi pages for details on terminals, flight tracking and meet and greet.
Getting into Twickenham and Kingston
Central Twickenham is typically 12 to 18 minutes from Hampton, and Kingston is about 10 to 15 minutes via Hampton Court Road and Kingston Bridge. Hampton station has trains towards Kingston and Waterloo, but a car is easier with shopping or luggage.
Families in Hampton
Hampton has plenty of schools and families. Our school run taxi is for parents who need regular help, and our 6 seater taxi is handy for family airport trips.
Nearby areas
Hampton sits next to Hampton Hill, with Teddington further east and Feltham to the north. See all our areas we cover.
Moving around Hampton
Hampton's local shops are mostly around Station Road and the village near the river. For bigger shops, many residents head to Twickenham, Kingston or Sunbury, and a car makes that easy. We also take Hampton residents to GP and hospital appointments, including West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth and Kingston Hospital.
Walking and cycling the Thames path
The Thames path runs past Hampton towards Hampton Court and Kingston. If you walk one way and want a lift home, call us from wherever you finish and we will pick you up.
Getting to Hampton Court for events
Hampton Court Palace hosts a flower festival, summer concerts and other events that draw big crowds. On those days the roads around the palace and the bridge can be slow, and parking fills up early. A taxi means you are dropped off near the gates and collected afterwards at a time you agree. For a group of friends or family, a 6 seater taxi keeps everyone together and saves arranging several cars. Tell us the event and your planned time to leave, and we will suggest where to meet.
Travelling on to Kingston and Surrey
Hampton sits close to the border with Surrey, and plenty of customers ask us to take them across Hampton Court Bridge towards East Molesey, Esher and beyond. We are happy to do these journeys, and the fare will be agreed before you travel, just like a local trip. For longer journeys south, such as to Gatwick, the route from Hampton often joins the A3 or the M25, depending on traffic that day. Our drivers will pick the most sensible way on the morning.
