Trains from London Bridge
London Bridge is a through station as well as a terminus. Thameslink trains run south to Gatwick and Brighton and north to places like Luton and Bedford. Southern and Southeastern services run to south London, Sussex and Kent. Getting there from Twickenham by rail usually means a train to Waterloo and then the Jubilee line one stop, or a walk along the South Bank.
Hospital appointments at Guy's
Guy's Hospital is next to London Bridge station, and St Thomas' Hospital is further west along the river by Westminster Bridge. Hospital visits are stressful enough without juggling trains and escalators, especially after a procedure. Booking a car means you can be dropped close to the entrance and picked up when you are ready. If your appointment runs late, call us and we will adjust your pickup.
If you or the person you are travelling with has mobility needs, tell us when you book so we can send a suitable car and allow extra time.
How we usually drive there
The usual route is east through Putney and Wandsworth, along the south side of the river through Battersea and Vauxhall, and past Waterloo to London Bridge. Sometimes, depending on traffic, the driver will use the Embankment on the north bank instead. Journeys usually take 50 to 70 minutes. These are typical estimates, not guarantees. London Bridge is inside the Congestion Charge zone, so ask whether the charge applies at your travel time and whether your quote includes it.
| Reason for travel | What we suggest |
|---|---|
| Thameslink train south or north | Allow 15 minutes at the station |
| Guy's Hospital appointment | Allow extra time for traffic and finding the right entrance |
| Meeting in the City | Book a fixed return time or call us when you finish |
Around London Bridge
The area around the station is busy. Borough Market, The Shard and the river walk to Tower Bridge are all close by. If you are meeting friends for lunch or going to an event nearby, we can drop you off and collect you later. Tell us the exact address and we will agree the easiest meeting point.
Fixed fares, card or cash
Your fare is agreed when you book and stays fixed on the day. You can pay by card or cash.
Getting to the right entrance
London Bridge station has several entrances, including on Tooley Street and St Thomas Street, and it is well connected to the hospital buildings nearby. When you book, tell us the building or department you need, and we will drop you at the most practical point for it.
Travelling home after treatment
If you have had a procedure that means you should not travel alone, the hospital may ask for someone to collect you. We can take you home, but please check the hospital's advice on whether you also need an adult companion for the journey. Let us know if you need extra help getting in and out of the car.
Days out at Borough Market
Borough Market is one of London's oldest food markets and gets very busy at weekends. If you are visiting, go early for a quieter experience. We can drop you close by and collect you afterwards.
Getting to London Bridge before the morning rush
Trains from London Bridge to Kent, Sussex and the south coast fill up quickly on weekday mornings, and the roads into the City get busy too. If you have an early train, we will usually suggest leaving Twickenham earlier than you might expect, because the drive along the river gets slower once the rush hour starts. Tell us your train time and whether you need to collect tickets or meet anyone at the station, and we will plan the pickup around that.
Other journeys you might need
Charing Cross and Waterloo are both nearby. For flights from the east of the city, our London City Airport taxi is the one to book. We collect for London Bridge from Isleworth, Hounslow and all our local areas. Families and groups can book our 7 seater taxi.
